If Africa was a woman, she would be the most breathtakingly gorgeous being that you have ever set your eyes on.
We are talking about those large, beautiful piercing eyes, complimented by the perfectly sculpted cheekbones on a skin dipped in the finest chocolate, known to humankind.
If Africa looked like what it has been through in the last few decades, never mind previous centuries, it would be the ugliest specimen in the entire universe.
And believe me, the scale and scope of its travails are like no other: the Arab and the transatlantic slave trade; the Berlin conference, which divided vast swathes to colonies under various European nations, with no regard for the views of the natives.
And what took place in the immediate aftermath of decolonization is another kettle of fish: the sponsored coups, the civil wars, financial imperialism via the IMF and the world bank has contrived to make Africa look extremely bad and ugly.
And yet, somewhat paradoxically, Africa isn’t ugly; its beauty continues to radiate and dazzle like never before; it is without question the most beautiful space on this planet.
