The question is when will humanity rise up and do something about it?

Last year, it was Ukraine, which caught the imagination of the world.

We all rose in unison to condemn Russia invasion of its neighbour and with good reason too.

The notion of one sovereign nation riding roughshod over another simply made no sense in the 21st century. Or at any time for that matter.

But it is worth pointing out that colonialism, wasn’t after all, a British creation.

The Portuguese had had a head start in Africa, when they decided to abandon the voyage to the new world in order to see for themselves, if the hype about Mansa Musa and his vast gold wealth was really true.

Their voyage to Africa in the 15th century, changed the trajectory of humanity forever.

They established diplomatic relations with the Kongo monarch, struck trade deals with the Gold coast and went to the Benin kingdom and were amazed by the stunning city which was by far sophisticated than where they came from.

Portugal, which was an economic backwater, suddenly became awash with money and its neighbours began to take notice and decided to something about this.
