Most Black immigrants (and virtually all immigrants from Africa), as well as their children and grandchildren, that live in the United States today are here because of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. It was a law that was passed largely because a movement that mostly consisted of African Americans demanded a nation that sold an image of opportunity no longer hoard those promises for a select few.
