Are The Current Generation of White Americans Worse Than Their Ancestors?
Just asking….
One of the few advantages of existing in the third decade of the 21st century is that we have a huge amount of history from which to draw to analyze our current existence.
The reading, discussing and teaching of history has become extraordinarily political and it is precisely why politicians of all stripes in the Anglosphere are keen to see it removed from the educational curriculum.
And with good reason too.
Regardless of your disposition —liberal, conservative or radical — it must be jarring as a white male in 2025, to find that however sophisticated and evolved you may think you are, to find that you’re not any different from those who became before you.
Seriously?
Yes.
The founding fathers of the United States of America saw no contradiction on revolting against punitive taxes of King George III and the numbers of slaves whom they held against their wishes.
And what’s more, wealthy Americans did everything they could within their power to not only preserve plantocracy but also to ensure that any resistance was violently suppressed.
