Are The Extreme Right, The Biggest Beneficiaries of France’s Political Turmoil?
Read on….
France is much more of a third world country than most folks realize and this truth is becoming much more apparent with every passing day.
Unlike Germany which has (or had) a thriving automobile industry, which dominated the globe for the longest time, La Republique Francaise has had to rely on Louis Vuitton, tourism and its quasi-colonial possessions in Africa for revenue.
Its universities are chronically underfunded and nowhere near as competitive as its neighbours across the English channel.
And what about its political institutions?
Those with long memories will recall that parliamentary elections took place in July and the government which was informed shortly afterwards, fell, a few days ago.
While it is important to insert the caveat that the winners of the last parliamentary elections weren’t allowed to claim their mandate, the current gridlock reflects a deep anxiety with the direction in which France is headed.
Serious difficulties in exploiting its West African colonies like it did in times past coupled with its inability to compete with a turbo charged China has led our neighbours to embrace the politics of the extreme right.
