Life and bouncing back after defeat.

A few days ago, like millions of sports fans, I was cheering for Coco Gauff.

The image of the teenager defeating her opponent, enroute to winning her first grand slam was truly special and one which is seared into our collective memories.

But in the midst of the euphoria, very few of us gave little thought to her vanquished opponent — Aryana Sabalanka — who worked very hard to get to the final stage of the competition.

And Ms. Sabalanka had to act dignified for the cameras, even though she was raging inside and angry at herself for coming so close to winning the US Open.

And it is precisely why it didn’t come as a surprise that she waited until she got to the dressing room, before she vented by smashing her tennis racquet on the floor a number of times before putting it in the bin.

Hadn’t it been for the cameras in the changing room, we would have had no idea of what the runner up did; but someone in their infinite wisdom, made the disgraceful decision to leak the…
