Brexit Britain In The Age of Stupid and The Omicron Virus

Dearth of leadership is killing more people than we realize.

Last Sunday, the football authorities allowed Tottenham Hotspur, a football club based in North London to play host to Liverpool FC at the newly refurbished London stadium, with over 45,000 soccer fans in attendance.

What’s interesting here, is that this game went ahead despite the cancellation of last weekend’s other games, in and around the country. And you will remember that I wrote in my previous article that the mayor of London declared the new strain of Covid 19 a major incident in the capital city.

Nearly every football club in England’s top flight division, currently has several diagnosed cases of the Omicron virus, as I type: Chelsea FC, has close to 10 first team players out with the dreaded virus and so does Manchester United, Burnley, Aston Villa, Norwich, Newcastle United, Leeds, Arsenal and Leicester city.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, the Chelsea player, whose Covid diagnosis led the football authorities to temporarily suspend soccer matches, throughout England and Scotland in March 2020, tested positive for the Omicron strain, a few days ago.
