Climate Change: The Greatest Hoax of All Time
According to the Brexiteers, the Conservative party and their ERG paymasters.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a different beast these days.
The extreme right have laid siege to every facet of our life that I am left pining for the moderate Conservatives whom we demonized as being too right wing in their world view in the 1980s and 1990s.
When we look back to the Conservatives who served in Thatcher’s government in 1979, such as Francis Pym, Jim Prior, Geoffrey Howe, Michael Heseltine, William Whitelaw, Christopher Soames et al, these guys were essentially Conservatives with a small c, who tempered their privatization zeal with a degree of social justice.
The current crop have been quite monstrous in their approach to the economy, social policy, race and of course, climate change.
To the Brexiteers in our midst Climate change isn’t real. It is some conspiracy which was dreamt up by these wishy washy liberals, who want to take complete control of our lives.
In their heads, climate emergency is simply another culture war, which must be waged to the very death.
