Dear Europeans: Please Shut Up About Trump!
A riposte to a profoundly nonsensical article from a Medium writer
London Steinbeck is a writer whom I have read a number of times on this platform.
As with most players operating in this space, there are some of his views with which I agree and others with which I don’t.
But I have never been impelled to respond directly to the man, until now.
And his article has given me good reason to do this.
A few days ago, our protagonist decided to take aim at those of us across the pond, who have spent vast amounts of time expressing our disappointment with the electorate.
And here was the starting salvo:
Trump was elected. Again.
And something else is happening- again.
Europeans are kvetching. They are moaning. They are proclaiming to the whole world how bad Trump is, and how much they hate him.
News flash: nobody cares.
Literally not one person in the United States of America cares what any European has to say about American politics. This goes for all Europeans, regardless of rank: from your princes and prime ministers to the local tout at the neighborhood bar (or pub, if you’re in England).
