Does Chris Rock Have a Point about Meghan Markle Playing The Victim?
Or have we become too sensitive?
Chris Rock is at it again.
This time, he’s taking on Will Smith and Meghan Markle.
And we understand his reasons for eviscerating Will Smith, given the way things panned out at the Oscars, a year ago, when the legendary comedian got whacked in the face by the much bigger man.
For those who haven’t seen the footage online, believe me, you will want to see it.
But back to the subject of Meghan Markle.
Rock’s take on the Duchess of Sussex is somewhat extraordinary.
Why?
Because he thinks that she’s playing the victim.
First of, he starts by pointing out that Meghan has light skin privilege — something which sets her apart from the everyday struggle of black folk and then he went on to say that her revelation to Oprah about the racism of the monarchy was actually disingenuous.
To him, the royal family invented racism; colonialism, imperialism is/was their raison d’etre; it was something that she could have found out, if she did a bit of research on Google.
