Does CNN’s Embrace of Fake News Point To a Massive Crises Of Western Credibility?

When the President-elect of the United States of America, described CNN as fake news network, the malignant narcissist spoke more sense than he — and most folks — realized.

While it is one of the great truisms of life that the biggest casualty of war is truth, this author believes that we do not fully appreciate how much Cable News Network has made its vision and mission statement in the 21st century.

There might have been times when CNN’s efforts were deemed as capturing the zeitgeist, but in the era of misinformation and disinformation, it is determined to wallow in the mud as much as its chief competitor — Fox News.

Let’s be clear: the notion of a 24 hour news cycle is a modern phenomenon.

When I was a child in the 1980s, news channels came on much later in the day reflecting a world where the points of divergence were much less opaque and certainly less complicated.

Back then, the leading communist state was the enemy and no expense was spared in educating the public on the evils of Soviet Russia.

And it is worth pointing out that the business of broadcasting was funded by the American and British taxpayer.
