Just wondering…

Politics affects everything.

From the price of your property to your medical bill to the quality of your children’s education and your ability to shop for essentials at your local Walmart are contingent on your elected representative.

And in the words of the Ohio politician — Nina Turner — If you don’t do politics, politics will do you.

Ms. Turner’s view is especially instructive, given the trends which we have noticed in the leading countries of the Anglosphere where huge amounts of energy are expended on ensuring that the preferred candidate of the oligarchy is elected to parliament, congress and senate.

And I should use the city of my birth as a microcosm.

My neighbourhood in London is at the intersection of two boroughs — Brent and Barnet.

One is incredibly wealthy and the other is quite poor and deprived.

What’s interesting about London is the extreme power which these local authorities have. Councils are in charge of tax collection in order to pay for the running of schools, the local amenities etc.

But there’s also a sinister side to these councils too.
