Not unless you’re living under a rock, you will have heard about the Egyptians getting seriously hot and bothered about Netflix.

No sooner had it become news that a Black British actress was to appear as Cleopatra than the Egyptian authorities reacted very badly to the news, so much so that they have taken the unprecedented step of suing Netflix.

But to those who have travelled to Egypt or have a bit of knowledge of history won’t be surprised by this development.

Louis Gossett jr., the Academy winning actor, who has starred in several Hollywood productions played the slain Egyptian head of state —Anwar Sadat — in a film back in 1983.

For those who don’t know who Sadat is, he was the man who succeeded the man who had given the Brits a bloody nose during the Suez war in the 1960s —Colonel Gamal Abdel-Nasser.

Anwar Sadat, was of a different hue to most Egyptians due to his Sudanese father and Egyptian mother.
