In September 2017, George Osborne, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, made a “jest” (his description), saying that he would not rest until he had chopped up Theresa May and put her in bags in the freezer. This shameful (not to mention psychotic!) statement was made with zero consequences. In fact, the day after he used his platform as editor of the Evening Standard to publish an apology, he accepted a position as a Visiting fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, and Dean’s fellow at the Business school.
