From Tax Cuts to Tax Hikes: The Tories are Toast and They Know It
And the British people? Well and truly shafted…
It was only five minutes ago when Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng announced the decision to give huge tax cuts to the wealthiest in society.
To fund this exercise, they chose to borrow to the rafters. Their thinking was that the Brexit version of trickle down economics would work wonders to the point of stimulating growth for the millions of folks who were barely surviving.
Suffice it to say that the results were cataclysmic.
What happened next was the plummeting of the national currency, with Wall Street and the City of London, making an absolute killing off the misfortune of the British taxpayer.
The same folks who applauded the ill fated premier and her chancellor for their decision to cut taxes for wealthiest, now saw that the British people were incandescent with rage at the likelihood of the pensions being wiped off completely. With the perennially pragmatic Tories fearing for their political futures, they did what they have always done in times past: defenestrate their leaders and found new ones.
And out went Kwasi Kwarteng and Liz Truss and in came Jeremy Hunt and Rishi Sunak.
