This piece is inspired by an article from Transylvanian in which he wrote about the cartoon shows, which he made him nostalgic about his childhood.

It was something which I could relate to.

The early years of my childhood were a magical time, not least because I straddled two countries — the one of my birth and the one of my parents and ancestors, but because my inspiration came from what I saw around me and what we watched on television.

Because if you were like me, someone who grew up at a time when there was no such thing as social media, chances are that you got your inspiration from Gerry Anderson.

Anderson’s genius was beyond breathtaking in the sense that he everything he touched turned to gold.

No Brit of my generation or older, for that matter, can ever forget the Thunderbirds show, which ran in the 60s and 70s and was reproduced for folks like me in the 80s.

The concept of Supermarionation, which was a portmanteau word of Super, marionette and animation was quite revolutionary at the time

It spawned a number of memorable characters such as, Lady Penelope, Nosey Parker and Captain Scarlet with their glossy Rolls Royce, rockets and space missions.
