2024 has proved to be just as bad a year as 1992 was for the British Royal family.
For those who do not remember, 1992 was the year that saw Prince Charles formally separate from the late Princess Diana, Andrew breaking up with Sarah Ferguson and the Princess Royale splitting from her husband.
And the destruction of the Windsor Palace did drive the head of the firm over the edge and the late monarch memorably described 1992 as an annus horribilis.
But since then we have a new generation of telegenic and committed royals determined to keep the institution going.
The problem, however, is that things haven’t gone to plan.
We have seen Harry and his wife — Meghan — falling out of love with the firm, due to internal dynamics and external forces.
Internal dynamics, as it relates to the inability of the siblings and their spouses to see eye to eye on how to get things done and external forces, as it pertains to stories being leaked to the media and the subsequent demonization of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
