Have The Irish Disowned Joe Biden?

A day is a long time in politics.

And a year?

Eternity, certainly.

When the 46th President of the United States went to the land of his forebears, he was more than happy to play up his Irish credentials to his hosts.

The Irish, perhaps out of their visceral antipathy to the English, were also more than happy to play along to the Biden’s charm offensive, but the state visit to the Republic of Ireland does seem like a lifetime ago.

Since October, we have had the President of the United States aid and abet the genocidal campaign of the right wing Israeli government.

And like millions around the world, we have been devastated by the scale and scope of the destruction and we have all been pushed to take sides.

And it’s against the backdrop of genocide that we had our favourite Irish Member of the European parliament denounce Joe Biden in the strongest possible terms.

In a speech which has now gone viral, we see Clare Daly, stating in no uncertain terms that the American President is persona non-grata in the Republic of Ireland.
