I don't think that anyone knows and that's why it is the secret sauce.

I understand that before I joined in November 2023 there’d been changes on Medium and I believe it is now something to do with how long people engage with my stories so that might explain it, however it is interesting to me on how more reads don’t necessarily warrant higher earning.
