I should have responded much earlier but I was being a bit lazy.

Lyrics are an expression of truth to me and they say a lot about what we may be reticent about expressing in everyday conversations.

As regards these guys being English, my point was alluding to the murderous, genocidal, fascist tendencies of even the most liberal Englishman. I am English born and bred, I should know.

On the question of irony, we all know it can easily backfire and I am more than happy to face scrutiny and attacks from those who see fit.
