If There’s Another MWC Competition This Year, I wouldn’t Bother Participating
And you shouldn’t too…
Last summer, our beloved platform was abuzz with activity.
That activity was the writing competition across three categories: Death, Work and Space.
The terms and conditions were defined, but only superficially.
And with these things, the odds are usually much more wider than we knew and appreciated.
But as was our won’t, Medium writers plunged into the task, like children who had been promised special gifts, only to come away disappointed with the outcome of the exercise.
But what was it about the outcome of the competition that made it such a disaster?
Was it the fact that the winner of the death MWC and the overall competition, was never heard of before or since?
Was it the opaque decision making of the celebrity judges?
Was it due to the fact that the platform managers could have better managed the process?
The answer to all of these questions is: all of the above.
What puts Medium above everyone of its competitors (Vocal, Fiver, Substack, Quora) are the writers and readers.
