Is It Possible For White and Black Folks To Look at The Gaza Massacres The Same Way?

Race, Colonialism, genocide and historical wounds..

It has always been about race.

And the control of resources.

Despite protestations to the contrary, we have always known deep down that it was about those brown Palestinians against the white Israeli settlers.

When the Israeli premier tweeted about the steps which would be taken by way of reprisal attacks to the events of the 7th of October, we all read the adjectives which were deployed by the profoundly corrupt and morally bankrupt Netanyahu to describe Hamas: animals and savages.

Not even the Russians, who acted quite barbarically against their Ukrainian neighbours were called animals and savages.

And even when the reprisal attacks started, we were prepared to overlook the overzealousness of the Israeli Defense Force, choosing to focus the need to eliminate Hamas.

And then it all got quite sinister.

Once we began to see women and children being slaughtered in large numbers did we start to realize that this was absolutely nothing to do with Hamas but a tried and tested tactic of settler colonialism; one which we had read and seen in times past.
