Actors reflect the best and worst of humanity.

There are very few people who are prepared to sacrifice their careers for what they truly believe and there are those who won’t hesitate to put everything on the line.

And If Hollywood is to be believed, every movie star is some sort of a social justice hero, with your favourites falling over themselves to fight for the homeless or for some poor nameless, faceless African refugee in Darfur, whose cause will never threaten the established order in Tinsletown.

Africans, despite the numerous atrocities which have been committed against them by their own leaders and the west, have never been afforded the same kind of agency that their European counterparts have mostly taken for granted, and this is why everyone sees the poor Black child with flies roaming around his or her face, as the easy choice for advocacy.

But advocating for Palestinians is a different matter.

Since the State of Israel began committing genocide in Gaza, very few marquee players have dared to put their head above the parapet to denounce the American, British and Israeli government for their actions.
