2024 is nearly upon us.
And for once in a very long time, the British and American general elections will be happening almost simultaneously.
The last time that this happened was when Lyndon Baines Johnson was President and Alec Douglas-Home was Prime Minister in 1964. The former won and the latter lost to Harold Wilson of the Labour Party.
You could make a compelling case that our world is a much more fractured and unstable place than the last time general elections overlapped in the leading English speaking nations and no, I haven’t forgotten about the Cuban missile crisis of 1963, when Russia stationed nuclear weapons in America’s backyard.
And it is against the backdrop of immense uncertainty that the electorate on both sides of Atlantic, will be deciding whether to swing madly to the right or stick to the current arrangement.
In Joseph Robinette Biden, America has a senile octogenarian, whose hands are soaked with the blood of those innocent Palestinians, who have been slaughtered by the IDF and one whose record on the economy has been average at best and non-existent at worst.
