Yes or No?

No one saw it coming.

The Republican National Convention took place against the backdrop of the attempted assassination of its Presidential nominee and the assumption that come November, Joseph Robinette Biden’s name would be on the ballot.

But the wily old man had other plans.

Safe in the knowledge that the GOP strategy was entirely centered on the incumbent’s evident cognitive decline, Biden released the bombshell that he was not only stepping aside but he was also endorsing his Vice-President as the Democratic nominee for the elections in the autumn.

No sooner was the announcement made than most of the heavy hitters in the party lined up to back Ms. Harris, including Gavin Newsome, Gretchen Wilmer and Wes Moore.

And going into the Democrat convention, that is such a good thing.

It shows that the party is ready to take the fight to the worst candidate for the highest office in the world and it also sends a powerful message to the millions of women of colour in America, to see someone who looks like them competing at the very highest level.
