It seems like a lifetime ago when Covid-19 turned our lives upside down.

Back when hospitals were on the verge of collapsing (actually collapsed in Northern England) and people were dying like flies; a time when people were locked in their houses for fear of contracting this deadly disease that swept through the entire globe.

And a time when Boris Johnson and his health secretary — Matt Hancock were busy playing Russian roulette with the lives of the British people.

The decisions that Matt Hancock made or didn’t make directly led to hundreds of thousands of people losing their lives in 2020 and 2021.

Even then, we never had the impression that the Conservatives cared about the effects of their policies on the wider public: to them, we are guinea pigs and pawns on a chessboard.

And this is precisely why it didn’t come as a surprise when we learnt that the former health secretary on whose watch people died was going to be a contestant on one the longest running reality shows in the UK —I am a celebrity……get me out of here.

I am a celebrity….get me out of here is about televising people negotiating their survival in the Australian jungle, replete with reptiles…
