In the quest for wider readership, which is better?

We all want to be read.

Scratch that.

We all want our material to be widely read.

And given the degree to which we are all in competition with each other for reads and attention, we push to generate the very best work, all the time, every time.

But once you hit the publish button, you’re at the mercy of the algorithms. And what governs the algorithm remains the great mystery of operating in this space.

And despite the difficulties, we were handed a lifeline.

Tony Stubblebine, in his first year in charge did introduce the boost initiative, which was designed to help push our work to a much audience.

And for many players here, they have benefitted immensely from being selected for an article boost.

But is being boosted the best possible option for those seeking greater readership?

I pose this question because of my experiences in the month of June.

It suffices to say that I have found writing on Medium largely beneficial since I plucked the courage to capture my thoughts, two years ago.
