Pakistan, Haiti and Katrina on my mind…

Another day, and yet another extreme weather event.

This time, it is Pakistan.

Not unless you are living under a rock, you will have seen the extraordinary images of houses being washed away by severe flooding in Pakistan.

According to reports, what we have seen thus far are only a tip of the iceberg. Nearly a third of the country, about the size of the United Kingdom is at risk of being completely submerged.

One doubts very much if the deluge that we read about in the old testament come close to what we saw online a few days ago.

What’s more, those images are not dissimilar to what we saw in Haiti, several years ago, when a massive earthquake took place in the unluckiest of countries, killing 220,000 people and displacing very many others.

Nor are those images any different from what took place in Katrina, state of Louisiana, in September 2005, when several thousands of people, mostly black were at the receiving end of a hurricane, which…
