Open Season On The Poor: As Opposed To Eating Cereal, Why Don’t We Eat The Rich?

It is open season on the poor on both sides of the Atlantic.

Here in United Kingdom, moves are already afoot to criminalize homelessness, with the leading party, already on its last legs, working to ensure that there are no homeless sleepers on the streets on central London.

It is near impossible to walk the streets of the capital city of Britain, these days, without bumping into someone who’s sleeping rough or in desperate need of food and water.

The very existence of the poor serves as a reminder of the umpteen failed policies, which have been enacted over the last fourteen years and heaven forbid that some oligarch sipping on his expensive Latte from Starbucks should encounter an individual, who has been at the receiving end of neoliberalism.

The story in America, it seems, is the same.

In the land of extreme capitalism, efforts to criminalize the poorest has been quite concerted with Arizona, California and Florida, leading the way in passing legislation to ensure that the homeless are completely removed from public view and banged up.
