It’s time for Medium to ditch Stripe in favour of a more dynamic and efficient payment channel

As with several thousands of writers on this space, the time between getting the mail from the Medium Partner Program and receiving payment does seem to take forever.

That it takes MPP six days to confirm your monthly figures is bad enough, but to have to wait for a week and a half for a globally renowned payment channel to process your payments is simply beyond the pale.

In these austere times, the delays before these payments hit your account could mean missing your mortgage payments, your direct debits or even more pernicious — having your credit score take a hammering — which is bad news all round.

What’s worse is that by holding on to Stripe, Medium is putting a lid on its growth possibilities.

Countries such as India, Nigeria, China, Brazil and South Africa are among the biggest economies in the world. They have a combined GDP of several trillions of dollars.

To think that the countries listed above aren’t fully supported by Stripe is simply unforgivable and tantamount to commercial suicide, in this day and age.
