The Conservative and Unionist party is a strange beast.
But it is one that is horribly efficient when it needs to be.
From producing Britain’s first Jewish Premier in Benjamin Disraeli in 1868, to the first female leader in Margaret Thatcher, back in 1979, its organizing principle has always meant that it remains wedded to the very notion of pragmatism more than any other political movement in the history of western democracy.
And without being too tautological, it has resorted to its default mode at a time of grave national crisis: pragmatism.
Now this is why Rishi Sunak, by the close of proceedings tomorrow or by Thursday at the very latest, will be confirmed the next Prime Minister of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
But what do we know about the pint sized man, who is about to inherit the poisoned chalice?
