The BBC Is Dead
A requiem for Britain’s leading broadcaster.
We live in truly extraordinary times. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is falling apart. The institutions which we have come to trust as the standard bearers of British culture and history have since eschewed their responsibility to those who pay their wages and chosen to sacrifice their integrity at the altar of expediency.
Given that there are a number of powerful institutions in Britain, which of these are we referring to, in this article?
The British Broadcasting Corporation.
When people think of the United Kingdom, along with her majesty the Queen, the Black cabs, the double decker buses, the London underground and James Bond, the Beeb (nickname for the BBC) readily comes to mind.
At the heart of this once great institution is the English Language. The template set by Lord Reith has been replicated by NBC, CNN, CNBC, Fox News and literally every other player across the globe.
In case you need to be reminded, the defining issue of our time is Brexit. Britain’s departure from the continent has divided families, friends and ideological soulmates.
And the way in which the national broadcaster has chosen to conduct its affairs at a time of great peril leaves a lot to be desired.
