The Dutch King Can Shove His Apology For Chattel Slavery Where The Sun Don’t Shine

The Dutch monarch —King Willem-Alexander—took the unprecedented step in apologizing for his country’s role in enslaving millions of Africans.

This announcement did receive a huge amount of coverage online and offline, given the events in France dominating the airwaves.

To some, Willem-Alexander’s public apology was a welcome development which should be celebrated from the rafters but to folks like me, it was nothing more than a means of these over-indulged and over pampered folks patting themselves on the back.

You must know that the Dutch were truculent slave traders and imperialists, who were just as brutally violent and genocidal as the British, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

Our friends from the lowlands — as the Netherlands is known —did go to war with the Portuguese in modern day Ghana during the scramble for gold and once their dominance was established, they headed to the south of the continent to…
