This plays out through colourism in many communities of colour. Lighter skin is praised amongst Black, brown, and Asian communities. While I’m aware the history of lighter skin also has roots in classism in Asian communities, given people who didn’t have to work outside were lighter and thus richer, the association with poverty and dark skin is anti-black.
Solidarity doesn’t exist
