The United Kingdom Is On Life Support

And it is impossible to tell if it will ever emerge in one piece…

There’s something rather depressing about the emergence of autumn.

As the beautiful summer evenings become a fading and distant memory, we must come to terms with the prospect of a very long and harsh winter.

Maybe it’s me, but I am filled with a profound sense of foreboding. Even though It is something that I am quite reluctant to admit to, the events of 2022 have justified the feeling.

And this was long before Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth died.

There is something about the state of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which lends the impression of a fin de siecle.

By this I am referring to the end of an era and the onset of something that will forever change the polity.

Thanks in part to the Conservative politicians, the demise of the United Kingdom has been hastened. And we should never discount the role of the British people too.

For they bought into the narrative of an alternate universe.

An alternate universe in which Great Britain was an undefeated maritime superpower in 2022. An alternate universe in which we could dictate to the European Union by way of our unique history and heritage.
