It’s another day and yet another war.

This time it’s Sudan.

In the last few weeks, this nation-state has been embroiled in a major power struggle between the military head of state who took power in a coup a few years ago and a rebel leader — Hemedti —who is intent on keeping it all to himself.

This power struggle would have gone unnoticed if every day folk weren’t being slaughtered on a massive scale.

Already, the ongoing war has triggered a massive refugee crises and Europe is in no mood to take in displaced Africans, given the current climate of anti-immigration political parties winning elections.

The illiterate rebel leader at the heart of the power struggle — Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo — also known as Hemedti, has waited for this moment his entire life.

Having played a pivotal role in the ousting of Bashir in 2019, our chap served as deputy to the current head, Hemedti has been quite strategic in the intervening years.

And how’s that been, I hear you ask?

First, by ownership of a several goldmines, of which the final product has made its way to the global markets.
