Being organized is a good thing — essential, in fact, to keeping up with queries, requests for submissions, contest deadlines, etc. However, it’s worth asking whether our need to organize is the result of a cramped space, the desire to have everything in order, or a hidden desire to avoid the act of writing? It may seem counter-intuitive, but hyper-organization is a form of distraction if it’s an attempt to deflect writing tasks until later.
