This is so true.

Because my kids know how to read, they make a habit of reading. When they become adults, they will have what I have. They can’t look at a sign in a room or on the street without reading it. Reading becomes automatic when we’re proficient at it. It’s not just competence. When we read so well it’s automatic, our brains can apply the remaining power to higher levels of thinking.
