This is so true.

It seems to me that, both individually and collectively, vast swathes of people have been so utterly ground down and worn out by a rapid of succession of serious crises in a system that perpetuates violence, greed and wanton destruction, that our passion has turned to pure inertia, and our hope to rampant hopelessness.
