Volodymyr Zelenskyy returned from Washington a few days ago with his tail between his legs.
His hope of persuading the American senate and congress to fund his efforts beyond 2023 came to nought.
And with this set back, the focus moved on to the European Union.
We had the likes of Mark Rutte of the Netherlands, Olaf Scholz of Germany, Emmanuel Macron of France and Ursula Von Leyden of the EU, meet to try to hammer out a consensus on the issue which isn’t going away — Ukraine.
Let’s be clear: Ukraine has no hope in winning the war against Russia without support from the United States and the EU.
And the one thing we haven’t seen from the continent is clear and decisive leadership from the European political class and this is playing into the hands of Vladimir Putin.
Judging by their actions, you’re left thinking that Macron and his contemporaries haven’t fully awoken to the threat posed by the Russian bear: that annexing Ukraine is the first of many steps enroute to global dominance.
And Putin cannot be appeased under any circumstances.
