Universities are Dead and No Longer Fit For Purpose

It’s time to rethink an entire industry.

Like hundreds of millions of young folks around the world, I was profoundly brainwashed.

Brainwashed into thinking that going to university was the be all and end all; that acquiring a degree was the key to unlocking life’s golden wealth and following my bliss. Attending university was non-negotiable. As a six year old, I proclaimed to all who could hear that I was going to study to become a medical doctor.

Twenty four years ago, tuition fees were only a thousand pounds per annum and as opposed to taking out a student loan, I paid for my fees from my salary as an store manager in McDonald’s.

And for a while, I seriously thought my qualifications put me a cut above the rest, at least this was my thinking until life gave me a serious kick in the teeth, doing jobs that needed absolutely no erudition and I was seriously left wondering if the decision to waste several thousands of pounds of my hard earned money was the right one.

But exactly how did I arrive at this point?

How did I go from one end of the spectrum to another?

My view of regret and incandescent rage, sums up the experiences of my generation and the precariousness of our age.
