Some things must be said

We live in profoundly implacably racist societies.

Whether you come from the United Kingdom, the United States or from countries with a burgeoning Black population such as the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand, violent and virulent racism is an inescapable fact of life.

From the moment you step out of your house to engage with the world, you will encounter this problem. It is inevitable.

And here’s what: It makes no distinction as to whether you are light skinned or dark skinned; toddler or adolescent; male or female; young or old. So long as you’re Black, there’s already a mark against you in White society.

And yet, there are some amongst us, who are deluded enough to think that their university education will shield them from the very worst aspects of racism.

I have news for you: It doesn’t.

It never has, it never will.

We should never forget that Barack Obama, for all of his erudition, his extraordinary eloquence, was as much a figure of hate for right wing establishment as the average Black guy on the street.
