And what would this mean for the rest of the world?

By the time you read this, Trump will have been declared winner of the 2024 elections.

And this is compounded by the fact that it will be a clean sweep for the Republicans in congress and senate.

And confirmation of the fact that white America was happy to look beyond the very many crimes ( and dearth of policies) of Donald J. Trump and put him back into office.

If you want to know what it feels like for turkeys to vote for Christmas, you have been given the best example yet. The last few hours have provided a powerful vindication of the view that the vast majority of voters are profoundly stupid.

And there certainly was enough stupidity to go round, judging by the numbers of African-American and Latinos who elected Trump.

But the central insight here is that white supremacy is the dominant ideology of the United States of America and that this isn’t about to change anytime soon.

That people of colour had no problems in using their franchise to vote against their interests, tells us so much about the extraordinary allure of dominant ideology for those at the bottom of the pyramid.
