Venezuela is in the eye of the storm, globally.

And you have to be a luddite of the worst kind not to know the reasons behind this.

Elections were held over the weekend to elect the next President of this oil rich country and contrary to wishes and desires of external players, the incumbent — Nicholas Maduro —was pronounced victor of the proceedings.

And we must place the wishes and desires of external players under scrutiny for a minute.

The world’s wealthiest man —Elon Musk —used his platform to campaign for Maduro’s opponent and when things didn’t pan out the way that he wanted, our man resorted to demonizing the leader of a sovereign nation.

And he wasn’t the only one.

The US Secretary of State — Antony Blinken —came out to denounce the results of the South American nation, decrying what he saw as a rigged election.

But we must ask if America has the right to lecture anyone on human rights and democracy?

Have we suddenly forgotten the atrocities of the past and present?

Aren’t there millions living the consequences of Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Have the descendants of those nuked by napalms in Vietnam and…
