A few weeks ago, I published an article on Vocal’s imminent demise. In the write up, I wrote about its modus operandi, structural flaws and all round inability to compete with Medium due to its inflexibility, bureaucracy and formidably high barriers to entry.

And so it came as a bit of surprise when the mail came in from Vocal +, offering me two months of exclusive membership at no cost (See screenshot above).

But that wasn’t the only mail that came in today from them.

Another message came in replicating what Medium had published only 24 hours ago on paying members for referring new players to the platform.

Unlike the comprehensive package from Ev Williams’ establishment, which sees the possibility of earning vast sums over the course of the financial year, through referrals, all you get from Vocal is a $5 commission for each person referred.
