Antony Blinken does have big balls.
Not only did the American secretary of state keep the Chinese leader waiting for their meeting, but he also did have the temerity to lecture the head of state on his international obligations on his home turf.
Watching the press conference, it was an extraordinary sight to behold the American secretary of state taking the grievances of the military-industrial complex to a global audience and Xi Jingping.
And what exactly are the grievances, I hear you ask?
China’s strategic alliance with Russia, which has enabled the latter to neutralize Ukraine and allowed it to weather the storm of sanctions, haven’t gone unnoticed.
An alliance which has made a huge difference in destroying France and America’s dominance of the Sahel in West Africa, by ensuring that the Nigeriens, Burkinabes and Mali take full charge of their resources and destinies.
We must appreciate that the United States of America isn’t used to having its status undermined in the worst possible way and contrary to what we were told, there wasn’t much of a cold war in the 1970s and 1980s; the Russian economy was only 18 percent of its American rival and it lacked the capabilities to mount any sort of challenge.
