The greatest producer in the history of popular music, passed away two days ago.

Quincy Delight Jones II, whose career spanned several decades, wrote and arranged music for some of the finest artistes that you can ever think of — Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Michael Jackson, Tony Bennett, Tevin Campbell, Brothers Johnson and many more.

What was truly extraordinary about this man was the fact that the quantity and quality of his material, which were incomparably vast, have stood the test of time.

If anyone could objectively appraise who was a decent musician and who wasn’t, it was Quincy Jones.

And it was in this spirit that the greatest producer of all-time, told the truth about Liverpool’s most famous export — The Beatles.
