The numbers have been exceedingly poor for the longest time.
And it is in the red.
By several hundreds of millions of dollars.
Scratch that.
By a few billion dollars.
Umpteen meetings were convened by the top brass to look at ways of dealing with the heavy losses which have racked up over the years.
The popular in-house publications such as Ascent, Elemental, Better Marketing and Partnered pen were discarded. The partner program through which writers earn a certain amount has had to be adjusted to ensure that there’s a threshold for all would be writers.
Management looked across the market and sought to replicate the competition by way of a writing contest.
Thus far, each and every one of these cost cutting measures has failed to produce the desired results. The writing competition left such a sour taste in the mouths of the leading writers that the management team chose not to bring it back in 2022.
These problems haven’t gone unnoticed by our money bag friends.
