It is that time of the year again.
Everyone’s looking forward to the end of the year for different reasons: to get a well deserved rest after toiling all year long; to get drunk with very little accountability; or to get off with that special someone.
But for billions of Christians around the world, it is the time to celebrate the birth of the messiah — the one who came to redefine our relationship with our creator by dying for our sins.
And over the coming days, we will see this theme being played out across the various denominations in Christendom: Protestants, Catholics, Presbyterians, Baptists, Episcopalians, Pentecostals and the rest of them.
Here in Britain, we will see footage of the royal family listening to the Archbishop of Canterbury, while there will be millions of people tuning live to the head of the Roman Catholic church.
President Biden with his immediate family in tow, will be attending mass on Monday, playing for the cameras as usual.
But I have always wondered if the significance of their actions is lost on them, given the current state of global affairs?
