Thinking out loud….

It’s that time of the year again.

The time when all of the world’s plutocrats, oligarchs and their minions, disguised as political leaders gather under one roof to discuss the problems of the globe and proffer solutions which they think will lead to the advancement of their already fat wallets.

However noble the objectives of Klaus Schwab may have been at the very beginning, what we have seen over the last three decades is abandonment of the tenets of stakeholder capitalism.

For those with long memories, stakeholder capitalism was meant to be the next big thing; it was meant to strike a fine balance between aggressive profiteering and workers’ welfare.

But no such thing happened.

As such, the members of this uber exclusive club will converge on one of the most expensive places in the world to discuss the environment, the global economy, tax havens and not forgetting the war in Ukraine.

The questions which we all must pose are as follows:

Do these folks have any sense of irony or self-awareness?

Has the thought ever occurred to them that these annual shindigs are an absolutely pointless exercise?
